Who We Are
ToolSite was built by a team of sewing enthusiasts and home décor specialists who got tired of the guesswork at the fabric counter. We've all experienced the frustration of coming home short on yardage for a curtain project, or buying double what we needed for a simple quilt backing.
Our team has combined experience across quilting, dressmaking, home décor sewing, and upholstery. We understand the real-world math that drives fabric purchases — fullness ratios, pattern repeat alignment, the difference between finished and cut dimensions, and how bolt width changes everything. We built this calculator to handle all of it correctly, every time.

Our Calculation Methodology
The fabric yardage formula used on this site calculates: (1) the cut length per panel by adding seam and hem allowances to the finished length, rounding up to the nearest pattern repeat; (2) the number of width panels needed to span the finished width at the specified fullness ratio; (3) total yardage by multiplying cut length by panel count and dividing by 36.
This is the standard method used by professional workrooms across residential and commercial applications. It's the same math a professional upholsterer uses, the same approach quilting pattern designers rely on, and the same method professional drapery workrooms have used for decades.
